Roberto Matta


ROBERTO MATTA (Santiago, Chile 1911 – Paris 2002). Painter, sculptor and engraver. One of the artists that best embodies the 20th century and the Surrealist  movement. His first steps were in architecture with Le Curboisier. In 1938, Matta came into contact with André Breton’s group and henceforth his work was marked by Surrealist aesthetic. His work is found in major museums throughout the world and has been the object of numerous retrospectives.
