Painter. Since 1969 she lives and works in Mexico City. She studied Drawing and Painting at Molino de Santo Domingo, Mexico City (1978-1980) and graduated in Mixed Media, Painting and Abstract Art Zen, Francisco Salas, Mexico, DF (1997, 2010, 2011 respectively). The work of Emilia Sirrs relates elements of expressionist Abstraction with poetic resources of the Conceptual art, in order to go into visions of private space and privacy. The introspective element, the subjectivity that involves thinking about our place in the world, is manifested in the Informalist character and the spontaneity that her canvases reach. The neo-expressionist gesture also records the pulse of a reality split between the drives of the liberating forces of private space versus the restrictive public space index. Among her most important solo exhibitions highlight: Art Within Reach, Gutierrez Home Gallery (Princeton, USA, 2015); Contemporary painting, Door Gallery of Art (Metepec, State of Mexico, 2010); Now Art, Design Centre (Miami, USA, 2006); Convention Centre (Acapulco, Mexico). Her works are present in public and private collections in Latin America and the United States.
